Making the Holidays Bright!

I am so excited to join my Etsy Dallas friends at NorthPark Mall this Saturday. We will be demonstrating some fun modern crafts that kids can make. And what's even better? This craftastic event will benefit the Dallas Public Libraries! If you are in the area, I hope you will stop by and make something with us!

Out and About: Handmade Harvest

This weekend I'll be spreading the eco fab fun in Denton, Texas. Denton is such a fun music-loving laid back kind of town. Many of the vendors lined up for this show will be new to me, and I am so excited to meet them and see their goods in person!

A Barnyard Bash for Little G

For Gabe's birthday this year we decided to have a barnyard bash at Owen's Spring Creek Farm. Our little guy is currently all about farms, tractors, and hayrides. He had such a blast, and it seemed like everyone else did too.

The girls helped me print, cut out and tape the cupcake toppers. This was our first time to use DIY printables for one of our parties. And it was so easy! We will definitely be doing this again.

A beautiful day on the farm.

The whole family enjoying the day.

Gabe's favorite part---the hayride with all of his buddies!

Can't wait to go back to Owen's Farm again!

On Rotation Today: Lost in My Mind

Sometimes getting lost in one's mind might not be such a bad idea. I love this little reminder from The Head and the Heart.

Pictures from Padre

This year we took our family road trip to the Texas coast. This was a first for us. We usually make a serious cross country road trip to the Florida coast. It's fun, but a ton of work and lots of of time goes in to just getting there. So this year we decided to travel closer to home.

It was so nice to sink our toes in the sand.

Prairie dogs and cactus in the sand dunes at the beach? Only in Texas!

A Little Bit Bumpy

bumper car ride indoor amusement park
Created with Gifboom

Things are little bumpy around here as summer break continues. We went to an indoor amusement park called Amazing Jakes. It was a great way to stay cool, and have some laughs together.

A friend pointed out to me today that we are almost half way through summer. Only six more weeks to go!

A Sweet Souvenir of Summer

I am smitten with this sweet prize that my littlest won from a claw machine game. Isn't it too cute?! Looks like my little guy may have a talent with those tricky claw thingies too. It's really nice when they bring home a prize you actually want to keep around.

When he pulled it out, he said enthusiastically, "Oh, look, it's string!" Yep, he would have been happy with string.

Studio Peak: Behind the Scenes at Regal Cottage

This is were the Regal Cottage toys come to life.
I'd love to show you around, so come on inside.

I have begun collecting yellow accessories to bring a bit of sunshine into the room. The color I chose is the same as the yellow tupperware canisters that my Mom passed down to me. These canisters were on our kitchen counters when I was a little girl. I use them now to store buttons, ribbon, and the rattles that go inside our baby rattles.

My favorite thing about this space is the awesome cherrywood built-in cabinets. There are tons of shelves and drawers. The storage possibilities are endless, almost. Somehow, I have managed to fill them all to the brim. And then, there is also a closet full, but that won't be on the tour today.

Thanks for not saying anything about the floor. It's a work in progress. We had a lovely berber carpet there, but it was terrible about catching every loose thread and scrap of fabric that fell to the floor, and I just couldn't take it. This bare slab feels more industrial, and I like it, for now at least.

You may have noticed that I like contrast. Traditional and modern. Polka dots and stripes. Red cherrywood and bare slab floors. I like contrast a lot! We have talked about stained concrete floors, but there has been too much work going on here for that, thankfully.

This is my sewing spot #2 and packaging area. In case you are wondering why I have two sewing areas, the answer is simple. I am lazy. Ha! I don't like changing my thread in the middle of a project, so I just change my seat. It seems to make everything run smoother for me. There are enough interruptions as it is, and I have the space, so might as well use it, right?

Thanks for checking out my sewing room. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Cheers!

Savoring the Wide Open Spaces in the Summertime

One of the best things about Texas in the summertime, is having the time to savor the wide open spaces. We took a little stroll down the paths at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve recently. It is so pretty here with the rolling hills and wildflowers. Sorry I didn't get more pictures, but I was busy soaking it all in.

On Rotation Today: Into the Wild

I intend for this On Rotation series to be a sort of peek at the music that fuels my work because it is music that keeps my sewing machine humming along, but I also hope that it helps you to discover new music that the whole family can enjoy.

Turning on the pop radio station with my kids around typically infuriates me. I don't know when pop became X-rated. The shock value songs are fun for a second, but once your little one starts singing along----not fun anymore. Not one bit fun.

So we are happy to discover our local indie music station where the music somehow remains clean, thought provoking, and fun!

What Size is Best?

We make balls in lots of different sizes for different size kids, and different kinds of play. So if you are wondering what size to get for your special little one, here's some helpful information.

I typically recommend the small (size 5 inch) for newborns to a year. The small size is also nice because you can easily fit it in your diaper bag. These are just the right size for little hands to grab and roll.

This little cutie is kicking around a small size, and he is 4 months old in this video.

The medium size (7 inch) is great for a one year old, and is really fun for floor play. Little ones who are just learning to walk will find it especially fun to kick around and chase. It is also good for learning to take turns when you roll the ball back and forth to one another.

The large size (9 inch) is especially fun for toddlers and big kids. It is close to basketball size and is just right for learning to catch and throw. The best part-it doesn't hurt a bit if you miss!

This is my little sweetie with a large size ball. He was 18 months old in this picture.

Of  course, you really can't go wrong with a ball in any size because everybody loves a ball!
